IELTS writing task 1 Vocabulary:

Before learning vocabulary for IELTS writing task 1 it is essential to learn the correct sentence structure to use in the IELTS writing task 1.

Only two types of word combinations can be used in the time graphs.


- The adjective-noun =  There + be + adj. + noun + in + noun phrase

 

  For example: There was a slight increase in the price of fuel

 

- The verb adverb = Noun phrase + verb + adverb

 

  For example: The percentage of the population in India increased significantly in the last 3 years.

4. From March to July, there was a minimal surge in the usage of smartphones.

5. The proportion of the school going adults escalated significantly over the period of 10 years.

1. The figure describing the use of a car in the UK fell rapidly in 2001.

2. There was a gradual decrease in the amount of CO2 emitted by vehicles in 2005.

4. The proportion of people going to work by walking sank drastically between 2005 to 2008 in the US.

5. A significant decrease in the percentage of people using bikes was observed in 2013.

For Example:

1. The figure for the consumption of seafood in the UK remained stable between 2001 and 2005.

2. The proportion of children attending senior secondary school in Mexico stabilized at 36% between 2005 to 2008.

3. The percentage of youngsters living alone in India fluctuated between 25% to 25.8% over the given period of time.

1. The percentage of people preferring a sedentary lifestyle increased dramatically from 11.2% in 2001 to 25% in 2004

3. The UK experienced a marked rise in the proportion of heinous crime, which was 25%  to 45% from 2003 to 2005 respectively.

4. The proportion of students studying online due to COVID-19 rose slightly to 15% in 2020.

For Example:

1. It is predicted that the figure for the usage of oil as the primary fuel will increase and reach to 80% in 2030.

2. The proportion of freshwater available on the earth is estimated to decrease and reach below 2.5% in 2040.

3. India is expected to experience a significant rise of about 24% in its proportion of newly born by 2035.


Vocabulary to state approximation:

For Example:

1. The percentage of people having a non-veg diet in India is nearly 14%.
